A is for Alphabet Poster

I had been itching to do an Alphabet Poster for ages but wanted to do something a little different. So I decided to do a fairytale and mythical creature alphabet to scare the pants off little kiddies :P

Thailand in Miniature

Last year I went on a holiday to my favourite place in the world - Thailand. In one of the big shopping malls in Phuket they had tables and tables of miniature houses and market scenes set up.  The amount of detail is just incredible and it took a lot to drag me away. I thought I would share a few pics.

Alice In Wonderland

Since Alice In Wonderland's movie release a craze has emerged. Maybe its the creativity of each character and the whimsical story that inspires artists & crafties alike. This is for you Rach, I saw them and thought of you.
The above illustrations are all works by self taught artist Danita. You can purchase them in her etsy shop. She has a wonderful blog full of her amazing illustrations too! :D

Enviro Kids

Today I am posting my Enviro Kids illustrations. I did them a while ago for no particular reason and have never actually done anything with them. I wanted to do more but just never got around to doing it. Maybe they could become a poster one day.

Moving House

I have been a little busy moving the last few days and unfortunately haven't had a chance to post anything :( What a mammoth task it has been! Here I am sitting in my new studio which is looking lovely minus all the towering boxes! I will have to post a pic once it's all cleaned up and looking spiffy.
Anyway, with not a lot of time on hand I thought I would post a couple of little experimental pieces I did a couple of months back. It's fluorescent acrylics on calico and finished with a little embroidery thread.

Gypsy Caravan

Lately my mum has been revisiting the idea of having a gypsy caravan as a studio to do her watercolour paintings. Hopefully this doesn't mean she will pack her suitcase and run off to Romania! But it makes me think how we all have a dream lifestyle or place. Mine would be a tiny cottage in a meadow boarding a fairytale forest or a teepee on a deserted, tropical island. How about an amazing treehouse or an old barn? What would yours be?

Vixen Lily brings winter warmth

How freezing has the last month been in Melbourne? I have resorted to snuggling up to my heat pillow at home, in bed, in the car, at work - just to stop freezing into an ice cube. My heat pillow has seen better days, so when my workmate Renae came to work with her funky heat pillows I simply couldn't resist! They have been selling like hot cakes (or hot pillows I should say). Heat pillows are fantastic for keeping warm but are also really economical, they're great for sore, tired muscles and make a lovely yet practical gift. Renae's design skills are evident with her eye for fabulous colour combinations and sourcing of delectable fabrics. You can view Renae's blog 'Vixen Lily' here to see her other heat pillows and stay tuned as she will be selling to the public soon!
Above is my new heat pillow from Vixen Lily

Type-tastic!

There are some fantastic typography designs out at the moment. My favourite is this print by Old Tom Foolery. It's simple, clever and quirky!
Here are a few others that I could definitely make room for in my house.
1. Kew tea towel by Poulier+Poulier, 2. Eyechart cushion by Auntie Cookie, 3. Come In and Go Away doormat by SUCK UK 4. Vintage Letterpress wood numbers 0-9 by Turners Collectibles 5. Ampersand cushion by Auntie Cookie, 6. Hardwork - Optical Test Chart tea towel by Poulier+Poulier

These are a hoot!

I know owls have been around a while now but that's for good reason, they are so darn cute and great to use as a design element. I spotted these little cuties at The Works (a shop associated with Bed, Bath N' Table) in Hawthorn and just had to have them both. They are made by Morgan & Finch.
